Et fini, part one

The top section is finished except for the bottom trim pieces, which I will cut first thing in the morning.

The drawer fronts and doors hung [subject to final at installation tweaking].

It is a very large piece of furniture!! Can’t wait to get some pix of the whole piece installed - the pix in the shop just don’t give a feel for the scale of it. It is probably the largest piece I’ve made to date.

The design reflects the elegant, substantial nature of the winery. It works.

Behemoth Up!

I tilted the bottom section up on its base today! Its growing again!! No apprentices in the shot today - they are both asleep - and have been for a while. That actually sounds pretty good to me about now.

The doors and drawers are pretty much "there". The fronts need to be put on the drawers and the slides fastened to the carcase. For some reason, and I’m not sure why it is, the doors on this brute seemed to take a little longer than I had planned. Not sure why yet, but I'll figure it out later.

The side panels won't be put on until we put it in I think, though I may change my mind on that.

I like the bottom trim molding - looks really good “in person”, a nice finishing detail that serves a purpose. The center section will have two wine coolers and needs ventilation for the motors. So the area where a kick space would be is the plenum for the coolers air intake - clever, eh?

The drawer fronts have a nice cove edge to match the doors. It is really starting to look like a very large piece of furniture - which is what it is. I’ve had it on its back until today, so its nice to see it looking "real" again.

The top is about perfectly level so the granite top will be supported properly. it will have a black granite stone - one piece for a counter top - very elegant -- and heavy!

Everything is all cut now, just waiting for final assembly. The top section will get its photo op tomorrow or the next day I should think. This is a pretty big piece of furniture, so only the pieces that I’m working on at the moment are in my "Euroshop".

My wife and partner, also my QA manager - and a tough one!! - says she likes it.
That’ll do. That’ll do. I actually like it too! It has a real substance to it - its almost tangible.

Hopefully I can get some more pix tomorrow - at the end of a long day, sometimes I just don’t get the pix up here and put them on my blog like I should... I think I’ll make a New Years Resolution to blog at least 3 times per week.
